OBJECTIVES
- To pursue information to disaster, infrastructure to risk, incentive to reduction and technology to mitigation for local action, national policy and international strategy;
- To mitigate environmental degradation caused by Green House Gases;
- Assessment of the disaster risks created by Global Warming at Bay of Bengal;
- Identification of disaster risk reducing measures both, for infrastructure, assets and in terms of HR Management;
- To reduce poverty by improving economic status of agriculturists through climate change mitigation and adaptation;
- Connecting biodiversity into local community’s sustainable livelihood projects;
- To improve health status of communities through health education, environmental cleanliness, and increasing access to primary health and child care centers in remote villages;
- To organize women into self help groups and develop their leadership qualities to facilitate making decisions in disaster management;
- Developing climate friendly sustainable habitats;
- A water mission for integrated water resources management;
- A mission on sustainable agriculture for making it more resilient to climate change;
- A green mission for enhancing ecosystem services of forests and for enhancing its Carbon sequestration capacity;
- To make timely coordination and quality of assistance to Communities where disaster losses are threat to livelihood and development;
- To make disaster risk reduction a priority through mitigation (structural & non-structural) measures;
- To followed UN Plan of Action for communities to build their resilience to disaster;
- To Open a Disaster Risk Reduction Study/Training Centre for Mitigation and Management at Sunderbans/Kolkata;
- To make provisions for project proposal to Disaster-prone districts in India and Asian countries;
- To make aware regarding Culture of Prevention, a Practical Action for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Resilience Building throughout the World.
